Some Info about myself:
I was born in West Virginia but grew up in Massachusetts. It was in the North East that I got into comic books. I remember being real little and spending my summers in a small lake house just outside the town of Laconia, NH. Every week or so my Dad and I would go to the local store and buy the latest issues of Detective Comics and Batman (This was during the Knightfall and Zero Hour events). I would sit on the porch and read and then reread the comics.
It was in the 90's that the love of my other favorite hero formed. The first comic I bought that wasn't a Batman was the Green Lantern. The very first issue of Green Lantern I picked up was part of Twilight Dawn, the Fall of Hal Jordan and the Rise of Kyle Rayner. Reading this story solidified my love for comics.
I was only nine years old when Kyle got his ring, and to me it was awesome. We shared the same name, same color hair, and at the time we both loved to draw.
Around the age of 13 is when I started to write. I would do short stories about being a space marine or being in a fantasy universe, stuff most boys think of. Later on I started to expand from short stories to poetry. I would write about anything and everything, it was my way of having a journal.
In the summer of 2008 my family and I moved from Haverhill, MA to Tucson. It was a huge change and because of it I stopped writing for a while. It was close to a year before I wrote anything, once I did though the flood gates opened. I wrote a few short stories and a ton of new poetry.
One poem in general, Zombie, is what got me back into writing longer forms of fiction. It is also that poem that was the base for my story titled “Trapped in Decay.”
I felt as though I could take the poem and expand upon it, flesh it out if you will.
2009 is when I started at Pima Community College. That was a shock to the senses seeing as I had not been in a classroom since 2003. It was in Honors Writing 101 that I started thinking about making writing my career. My professor, James Knight, really helped me learn more about different forms of writing. He helped me expand on ideas that I had and revise ones I had before. I eventually took every class he taught.
It was also in 2009 that I met Eric Schock and Taylor Garrity. We were all sitting outside of a movie theater waiting to get into a sneak preview of Watchmen. I saw these two guys sitting there drawing away. I ended up talking to them for a few hours before the movie started, it was good times.
Roll forward to 2011 and I am now writing for Evil Robo Productions with a group of amazing guys.
